Youth Point Series Program

 2022 YEARLY REPORT

  • January started our year with the National Western:  Two (2) youth showed and no youth memberships to report at this time.
  • Houston Livestock Show: Approximately six (6) youth showing and no youth memberships gained at this show.
  • Kaufman Klassic Show: Twelve (12) youth showed and about six (6) youth joined or had joined between Houston and Kaufman
  • East Texas State Fair: Twelve (12) youth Showed and during the show we had one more youth join, but several families added onto their memberships or adjusted their cattle information.
  • State Fair of Texas: The continued same twelve (12) youth showed, and memberships were set. Made sure all memberships and information was paid and taken care of with William Hughes.
  • Louisiana State Fair: Here are all the differences that occurred due to the scheduled changing for the 2022 year. Texas had 3 members show at LSF and the  Louisiana youth stepped up with approximately eleven exhibitors.
  • We would have like 18 youth memberships, but what if we were to establish more adult memberships with children, and get both to participate together. If every youth that showed join we would have approximately 30 youth members, which you will see supported on the showmanship results documentation attached to this email.
  • Look at the trend of when the memberships grow around East Texas State Fair and levels out at State Fair.
  • 2023 Kick Off Incentive for memberships T-Shirts Youth, but we should give to adults too

Congratulations to the 2022 Youth Showmanship Series Champions!

It is time to kick off the 2023 NZCC Youth High Point Series!

One major drive for NZCC is a youth program that recognizes Junior Zebu Exhibitors for participation and placings through a series of sanctioned cattle shows that include showmanship competitions.

Youth who participate in these sanctioned shows earn points for their placings in all shows with double points for shows that meet certain criteria.

Points are tabulated for cattle and showmanship for each youth member. The program promotes consistency for exhibitors at sanctioned shows within the breed. These points are tabulated and posted with end of season awards and recognition for the youth participants.

A primary goal of NZCC is to offer a scholarship program hinging off of this program for Miniature Zebu Cattle Youth Exhibitors.

The 2023 National Zebu Cattle Club Show Series will run from January 1st, 2023 thru December 31st, 2023.

Show Rules, Regulations, Guidelines

  1. Effective Date and Repeal

The rules and regulations become effective with the first sanctioned show of the current point year ( January 1st thru December 31st) .  All previous rules are hereby repealed, except that the status of all previous records made under previous rules shall remain unchanged. Rules as printed in the Official Handbook shall be used at all sanctioned shows unless otherwise approved by the NZCC.

  1. Animal Welfare

Every animal exhibited at a sanctioned show shall, at all times, be treated humanely and with dignity, respect, and compassion. The standard by which conduct or treatment shall be measured is that a reasonable person informed and experienced in generally accepted livestock exhibition training procedures or veterinary standards, would determine to be cruel, abusive, or inhumane.

  1. Awards Year

The current awards year begins with the first sanctioned show after January 1st . The points will be complete at the conclusion of the last sanctioned show prior to December 31st .

  1. Membership Requirements

(a) As an express condition of the privilege to participate at NZCC shows or events, each member of the NZCC, their families, third parties, and all participants assume the risks of participation. They release and discharge the NZCC, its officers, directors, and representatives from any and all liability, whenever or however arising, as to personal injury or property damage occurring as a result of participation in an event conducted by the sanctioned show, or on the show grounds thereof.

(b) Proof of Youth Exhibitor age must be provided upon registration and validated by a NZCC Representative.

  1. Youth Membership Fees

(a) A membership fee of Fifty dollars ($50.00) shall be paid for each active youth membership. Membership fees are due and payable prior to the first show of the series, of each year and shall be considered delinquent if not paid before that date. Points for any competition year are only counted after Membership is paid in full.

(b) Youth Members must enter the animals they intend to show to earn points at a fee of Ten dollars ($10.00) per animal, yearly.  Animal entries per exhibitor can be made at any part of the year but points for that animal will only be counted from time of official entry forward. Each Youth member can enter as many animals as they like to earn points exhibiting.  Only points from top placing animal per member per show will be counted.

  1. Membership Requirements to Receive Points

(a) In order to be eligible to receive points to apply to the yearly standings in any division of competition, an exhibitor must be current on dues, and an active member prior to the show where he or she is exhibiting. Dues are due by May 1st of the current point series.  After that point, if membership dues are not paid prior to the beginning of a given show, a member will not receive points awarded at that show.

(b) Memberships are Non-Transferable. An active membership and animals points listed under membership is non-transferable to another member.

  1. Points

(a)The NZCC will award members accumulating the greatest number of points within a given year.

(b) Points will be awarded on the following basis to members in good standing for the yearly awards program. Points are based on the animals placing in its given class. 4th-7 points
5th-6 points
6th-5 points

(d) All cattle may be shown including steers, heifers, cows, and junior bulls. Senior bulls (over 24 months of age) will not be allowed to compete and acquire points for a member.  Any points earned as a junior bull (under 24 months of age) will be accepted.

  1. Rules of Exhibition

(a) All members must show their animals at all times while in the ring, including, but not limited to, class, division, and grand champion competitions.

(b) The only exception shall be if the member has more than one animal in the class or another ring of competition at that same show. If a member does not show his or her own animal at the show for any reason other than the above he or she shall forfeit all points earned at that show.
